Registered charitable society, Government of Kerala
Established 2004 · Ernakulam, Kerala
The Indian Blood Bank Society is a registered charitable society promoting awareness of blood donation among the public — committed to bringing people to donate without linguistic, religious or political difference.
Indian Blood Bank Society is registered as per The TCLSCS Registration Act XII of 1955 under the Government of Kerala. This society is aimed at promoting the awareness of blood donation among the public, and is committed to attracting the public — without linguistic, religious or political difference — to donate blood.
It was formed as a charity organisation with the active initiation and guidance of Lt. Col. (Hon.) Dr. Mohanlal, under act for humanity — a non-profit organisation founded by Mr. Esahaque Eswaramangalam and a group of young social workers during 2004, with Lt. Col. (Hon.) Dr. Mohanlal as its lifetime goodwill ambassador.
The society exists first to promote awareness of blood donation among the public, and to dissolve the myths that keep willing people from ever donating a first time.
IndianBloodBank.com lets a patient search for a donor in their own locality and reach them directly — by SMS, by email, or by call. Volunteers register once and stay reachable.
The society honours the individuals and institutions who quietly keep this work going, because recognising humanitarian effort is itself what motivates more of it.
03Our first initiative
Finding a donor in an emergency is hard, and it gets harder the rarer the blood group. The portal exists to shorten that search: register once as a donor, or search for one in the patient’s own locality and reach them directly.

Alongside the founders, the society is run by an executive committee of 12 office bearers and members, supported by a wider circle of professionals and volunteers who give their time to it.
